Yogi Plus Yoga Is All About Body Positivity

By Mike Abelson

Shauna Goldberg loved yoga but wanted a place to go that would also be an open, positive place for people of all shapes and sizes. That motivated to learn how to be a yoga teacher and eventually open Yogi Plus Yoga in 2015 in Tamarac. A welcoming place to all, Yogi Plus Yoga has become a staple in the Tamarac community. Goldberg answered a few questions about his inspirations and what keeps her going.

What first inspired you to open Yogi Plus? How long have you been open?

What inspired me to open Yogi Plus was always being the largest one in class and I really didn't have a clue of what I was doing. So, I signed up for Yoga Teacher Training from there I found who I am and how I want to spread the love yoga and body awareness of self love.

How would you describe the atmosphere and culture the studio and classes offer to students?

Our atmosphere is filled love with no judgement. [It's built on] honor and respect, [and] encouragement to grow as yogi's/person [or] being the best version of yourself.

I read that you are a body positive studio. What does being body positive mean to you?

[It means] body positive mentally and physically. No yogi left behind.

Why do you think someone should choose Yogi Plus Yoga for their yoga instruction?

Well we offer yoga to all shapes & sizes. Our mission is also our vision: to make yoga accessible for every body and to use yoga as a tool to connect with your body. We welcome all experience levels, bodies and ages.
