Strong Body and a Quiet Mind Found at Lakeland's Very Own Satya Life Yoga

By Courtney Clark

Lakeland is home to Satya Life Yoga, a yoga studio that offers a variety of classes for all skill levels and ages. The thousands-year-old practice appears here in a welcoming environment with trained instructors and even a couple of branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Those who give Satya Life a try are sure to see improvements not only in their workout, but also in their overall health.

Frankie Hart opened Satya Life in 2004. Since then, the studio has earned excellent reviews and ratings across online platforms such as Facebook and Google. According to the studio website, Hart's teaching style "is inspired by decades of study in many disciplines of the movement and healing arts."

With certifications such as an MFA, YACEP, RPYT, Qigong Master, and CLP, Hart's experience includes modern dance, Neuro-Muscular Reprogramming, and more. Certified as a Master level instructor, she trained for twenty-five years with Inner Dan Arts Master Tianyou Hao. Ultimately, she encourages all who walk through the studio door to understand "that in Yoga we 'come as we are.'"

Assistant to the Owner Joyce Scott explains the benefits of yoga: it "generates and releases energy in the body for an overall great workout that stretches and builds muscle while helping to lose weight." Beyond this, frequent yoga practicing and meditation has been shown to help with pain, stress reduction, and digestion.

Satya Life has several classes from which to choose. New and familiar practitioners can try flowing, core power, therapeutic, and pre/post-natal classes, and yoga workshops, to name just a few. Instructors teach Iyengar-based yoga, a type of Hatha Yoga that focuses on posture and breathing, and aerial yoga. The studio also has private and semi-private classes for those who desire more individual guidance.

Beyond yoga, Satya Life offers others practices. Hart teaches both Tai Chi and Qigong; the website describes the former as "a moving form of meditation" which is self-paced, graceful, and appropriate for all levels. Among many benefits, Tai Chi can improve for bone density, muscle strength, flexibility, and coordination. Qigong helps with relaxation, cognitive function, memory, and mental and physical healing.

With a class to fit every lifestyle and age, guests who enter Satya Life are in good hands with well-trained instructors who are not only knowledgeable, but also seek the best for their students. One of the sayings at Satya Life is "strong body, quiet mind" -- or the ultimate yet ongoing goal instructors encourage practitioners to strive towards.
