St. Augustine Face and Body by Promise Spa Is Your Gateway to Wellness and Beauty

By Marina I. Jokic

"Having been the owner and operator of a successful wellness center in Los Angeles, it was my dream to return home to Florida to recreate a similar business in a spa-like setting," Beth Hurewitz, owner of St. Augustine Face and Body, said.

Hurewitz wanted to continue her work in the health and healing industry while also orienting her services to the significant number of weddings in St. Augustine. Centering her core business on the essential items of a spa menu she also offers onsite special event hair and makeup for weddings as well as wedding officiant services to the many couples who come to this romantic and historic city.

Functioning as a sole practitioner, it was important for Hurewitz to hire only experienced and highly trained therapists. With the help of a single assistant, she has managed to deliver exceptional skincare and body treatments and customer service.

"If there were one word to describe our company and services, it is authentic," she said. "We offer advanced therapy and great facials because we sincerely want people to feel better, look better, be happy."

Most of the services on the spa's menu can be customized depending on a customer's needs and preferences. On a professional level, Hurewitz is most fulfilled when she sees that a customer's issue or ailment is resolved for good.

"Seeing people's issues come to resolution, or just seeing someone too relaxed to worry about much of anything, reaffirms for us that we accomplished the goal for the day," she said.

Servicing all of northeast Florida, St. Augustine Face and Body by Promise Spa has carved a significant share of the beauty market for itself, and deservedly so. The St. Augustine location has a slew of mainstream and also more specialized massage therapies ranging from deep tissue and Swedish to pre-natal and basalt rock therapy. Their deep tissue massage employs the structural release technique, which helps to release restrictions and tension within the body such as knots and in areas near scar tissue. Working to gently soften the fascia and other connective tissues, the deep tissue massage is also ideal for loosening tense muscles.

For expecting mothers, the pre-natal massage is intended to relieve tension and aches that are caused by the shift in the center of gravity. This massage can also alleviate swelling and fatigue, and is highly recommended after the first trimester. Last but not least, a unique treatment, the body/mind/spirit massage utilizes pressure points and energy flows to harness the intrinsic self-healing powers of the body.

If you really want to pamper yourself, holistic treatments are designed to relax you to your core. For instance, the exfoliating and revitalizing body scrub stimulates the skin through natural bristle brushing, followed by a vigorous scrub of crushed apricot seed and emollients. The nourishing mood wrap detoxifies you through smothering your entire body in natural mineral-infused clays for an hour. For those interested in losing weight, the herbal weight reducing wrap purges toxins from your body while shedding water weight and breaking up fatty deposits. Finally, the ear candling treatment helps to reduce persistent sinus infections.

"The sense of trust, satisfaction and relief people experience when coming to see us speak to the training, experience and maturity that highly evolved businesses achieve," Hurewitz said.
