Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau Helps You Make the Most of Your Miami Vacation

By Elisha Neubauer

Sun, sandy white beaches, and a bustling culture and nightclub scene- Miami has it all. The poster child for the ultimate South Florida experience, Miami has been featured in movies, television, and novels across the world, inspiring vacationers to flock to its brightly colored buildings and dazzling waterfronts. With such an array of sights and activities, visiting Miami can be a whirlwind vacation, but the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, aims to make it a little easier to decided on what to see, where to go, and when to do it.

"There are so many ways to play here," states Jennifer Haz, Director of Relations for the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. "So we host the Miami Temptations, a series of ongoing monthly promotions by theme." Events vary by month and include themes such as the Miami Cruise Month (January), Miami Romance Month (February), Shop Miami Month (March), and Miami Sports Month (April). "I would check out the special promotions and deals ahead of planning my trip to Miami," Haz suggests.

So what is it that draws visitors to Miami month after month, year after year?

According to Haz, it's the varied activities available within the famed city. "There's something for everybody from celebrities to families seeking fun in the sun, the destination now boasts a 'grown up' yet playful arts and cultural landscape, renowned nightlife scene and world-class dining and entertainment." If you ask her opinion of the must-see sights in Miami, she can provide you with quite a list. "South Beach/Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road, Aventura Mall, downtown Miami, and Bayside Marketplace continue to be some of Miami's must-see stops," she explains.

"However, Miami has many hidden gems that are often overlooked." If you're wondering which gems she is referring to, don't worry- we asked. She went on to tell us about two National Parks located in the area. Both parks are currently celebrating their centennial, the Everglades National Park, the third largest in the U.S. National Park System and the close-by Biscayne National Park, featuring living coral reefs and the longest stretch of mangrove forest left on Florida's east coast, all within 173,000 acres of untouched land. Other unique experiences include the Knauss Berry Farm, Robert is Here, Schnebly Redland's Winery & Brewery, Fruit and Spice Park, Coral Castle, Everglades Alligator Farm, Monkey Jungle, and Zoo Miami.

Another big attraction to Miami is the world-class restaurant establishments offered throughout the city. "There are so many choices," exclaims Haz. "I highly recommend booking a Miami Culinary Tour because not only do you embark on a culinary journey but you also immerse yourself in the local culture." The buzzing nightlife is another grand draw to this beach-side locale, earning Miami the title of world's favorite fun-in-the-sun playground. This is not to discourage Art and Culture patrons, as the city boasts a lively arts scene, and includes such institutions as the New World Symphony Center, The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami Dade County, and the Perez Art Museum Miami.

When it comes to Miami, there's a little something for everyone. In fact, there's a lot of somethings for everyone, which can make narrowing down how to spend your time in this sunny culture spot quite harrowing. But, as Haz explains, utilizing the tools and options available from the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau can make your experience all the sweeter. "Miami's weather and beaches are major attractions to visitors," Haz boasts. "But visitors to Miami with agendas beyond the perfect poolside mojito have never been disappointed."
