Finding the Right Real Estate Agent For You: An Interview with Jassamine Redington of Fort Lauderdale Real Estate

By Jassamine Redington

Tell us a little bit about your company and its foundation.

CONDOS & CASTLES REAL ESTATE, INC. (Florida) is an established boutique real estate agency that provides personalized assistance to Buyers and Sellers of luxury beach /ocean side condominiums and residences plus the numerous developments along the Las Olas/Riverwalk downtown area. You are not just a "number" to us- we know your name and keep in touch with you!

What are some of the services your company provides?

Condos & Castles Real Estate, Inc. is a full service company that has mortgage brokers, title companies, real estate Attorney's, service people/handymen, etc. to help you with all aspects of the closing and afterwards.

Why is it so important to find someone with relevant experience?

You don't want to waste your time or your customer's time in finding them a property that meets their needs. Your agent needs to be up-to-date on the properties along with the processes involved in getting the transaction closed on time!

Where should I start in my search for a real estate agent?

The Internet is the best place to begin a search for an agent. Look for a good website that will give you all the answers to your questions and that gives you properties to see in various areas. The agent should be friendly when you call and have a quick response to your emails.

What are the advantages of working with a full-time agent, rather than an agent who has another job?

A full-time agent will have taken classes to gain more knowledge about the real estate business; they will be more dedicated and not distracted; they will have more time to help with the full transaction process and much more!

Should I go through family and friends to find reliable agents?

Sometimes family/friends will know a reliable agent- so use them! Referrals are our Lifeblood and we usually know the buyer/seller is serious and they really do want to purchase/sell a property.

What are some questions I should be sure to ask when I interview potential real estate agents?

Are you a Board member with the local Real Estate Board (this is the only way you can call yourself a Realtor), do you do Real Estate on a full-time basis, what areas do you have expertise in, do you have contacts to help with the closing and contractors, if needed, and will you be able to help us negotiate? What are your accomplishments? What are your affiliations? Can you give some Referrals for your service?

Should I trust print advertisements for real estate agents?

Ads provide a "first impression" for the real estate agent; but, it is key that you interview the agent before you make the final decision. Make sure you both are on the same page.

What is the best way for people to get in contact with you or your company?
