Empowering Athletes to Be Their Best at Boca Raton's Running Superstore

By S. Mathur

The Fit2Run stores are family owned, and because the family has a passion for running, it shows in the overall outlook and goals of the stores. The first Fit2Run Runner's Superstore was opened in 2006 by the father and son team, Bill and Parks Robinson. It now has 15 locations in Florida and one in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Robinson family has a passion for running and sports generally, and for three generations have owned sporting goods businesses, including Athlete's Foot franchises, Sports Fan stores, and Robby's Sports stores.

Jayme Epstein, Marketing Manager, says that "Bill and Parks, both avid runners, started the company because they recognized a need to provide products and services to runners, walkers, and triathletes."

There's a strong commitment to helping customers find the right shoes and equipment, and to supporting the local community. Parks Robinson, co-owner, says "We pride ourselves on our strong community involvement and make strides to empower athletes of all fitness levels to em-brace a more active lifestyle. My family has been in the sporting goods business since before I was born. I think that it's in my blood! I love the retail business. My grandfather, uncle, and dad ran successful retail businesses and I want to continue this family legacy."

The store has fitting services with state of the art technology, for beginners as well as for sea-soned runners. The steps to finding the perfect running shoes include: a complimentary Video-taped Gait Analysis to determine your running or walking style, the iStep System to identify your foot type, pressure points and shoe size, and to recommend orthotics if needed, and finally, test-ing the shoes on the indoor track. But finding the right shoes is only the first step to becoming part of the Fit2Run community.

Runners can join in the Fit2Run has weekly social fun runs - called Fun2Runs - with themed nights, parties, clinics, nutrition samplings and more. For more serious athletes, there is the Train2Run program which, as Epstein says, is "a great way for those from novice to veteran run-ner to connect with others, learn from certified trainers, and stay healthy." Fit2Run is proud of its support for the running community and local charities, raising millions of dollars for local chari-ties and wellness programs throughout Florida.

Buyers and staff stay on top of the "latest and greatest in technology and innovation", identifying and testing new footwear, apparel and accessories. Customers can find leading brands like Gar-min, Polar, Asics, Brooks, Nike, Under Armour, Mizuno and hard-to-find new brands like Oofos recovery sandals, Hoka One One and On Running footwear.

Customers can find affordable choices in all departments, and there are special discounts for members of the CLUB Fit2Run. The annual membership fee of $30 qualifies members to receive 10% discounts on all purchases in-store and online, as well as other offers.
