Celebrate All the Flavors of Life at Tampa's Epicurean Hotel

By Elisha Neubauer

There is only one place for the true food &wine enthusiast when looking to find a hotel in the South Tampa region- and that's the one of a kind Epicurean Hotel. Nestled sweetly in the heart of the trendy Hyde Park, the historic district located in the south of Tampa, this state of the art hotel includes every amenity your little heart could desire, from a fully stocked culinary classroom to a wine and spirits shop located right in the lobby.

The only hotel conveniently situated in Tampa's SoHo neighborhood, the Epicurean is uniquely food-focused. Within the walls of the Hotel, you'll find the Epicurean Theatre- a top of the line culinary classroom, that as the website describes, serves as a, "Forum for the open discussion of a range of topics, from cultural trends to the art of mixology and cooking techniques."

Also within the grounds of the hotel, you'll find Élevage- a restaurant where classic recipes are re-imagined, the EDGE rooftop bar, Chocolate Pi patisserie, and Bern's Fine Wines & Spirits wine shop. As if that wasn't enough, the Epicurean Hotel also offers the Evangeline full-service spa and 5,200-square feet of flexible event space. Of course, as Kelly Prieto, PR Rep for the Epicurean Hotel, tells us, one of the biggest perks of the Hotel is actually the location. "The prime location allows guests to walk or bike on one of our custom-made cruisers to Hyde Park, South Howard, Bayshore Boulevard and more," she details. "You can truly park your car and never have to leave due to the location and all of the amenities."

For the wine enthusiast, the hotel has a built in wine and spirits shop right in the lobby! That's right, you can check into your room and pick up a bottle of wine from the wine refrigerators right there, so there's no need to make a liquor store run later in the evening.

"In its 60 year history, Bern's Steak House has accumulated one of the largest private collections of wines ever assembled in the world, so locals and visitors alike turn to this revered wine shop for expert advice and thoughtful selection," Prieto tells us. "The shop, located in the lobby of the hotel, carries rare wines and spirts." She continued, telling us that guests are able to take a wine class or experience a wine tasting in the Epicurean Theatre.

Of course, it's not all about the food and wine, although those are great amenities to offer. The Evangeline, located on the ground floor of the impressive Hotel, is a 2,800 square foot spa facility. It contains five treatment rooms, a relaxation room, and manicure/pedicure stations. As if taunting us, Preito informs us, "Two of the treatment rooms are exclusively for couples and include a Watersong Couples Tub showcasing chromatherapy lighting and a Kohler Duet Shower equipped with 16 shower heads and steam."

The Evangeline offers a variety of massage therapy, facials and skin care essentials, body treatments, nail care and make-up services for women and men. Treatments are crafted from the live herb wall located directly in the spa. Not only does this fragrant wall dressing add a lovely zing of herbal aromas to the location, but it allows therapists to incorporate locally grown ingredients. Big perk. As Preito proudly states, "The Evangeline offers a sumptuous experience for guests and locals."
