Cabo Flats Restaurant, Where 'Worries Get Washed Away by Tequila'

By Kelly Church

Dedicated to providing Mexican dishes with only the freshest ingredients, Cabo Flats uses local ingredients to meet their high standards. Restaurant décor stays true to the culture of Mexico with imported light fixtures, furniture, statues and artwork. Helga Moya, Marketing Manager for Cabo Flats, says the goal is to remain as authentic as possible, giving guests a real taste of Mexico from the second they walk in the door. The restaurant has locations all over Florida.

"Our recipes come from several regions in Mexico, but all of them stay true to their origin," Moya says. "Whether it is the empanadas from Guadalajara or the ceviche from Veracruz, our dishes are made in the same way and with the same ingredients as they were back home in Mexico. The best single word to describe what makes us stand apart from other Mexican restaurants is fresh."

Menu favorites include the avocado fries, affectionately titled AvoCabo Fries, that are topped with ten slices of fresh avocado, panko breadcrumbs and a roasted garlic aioli. Moya says this appetizer is a best seller at every Cabo Flats location. Main dish favorites include the Crispy Tuna Tacos that are topped with pickled onions and a mango dressing; Fresh Seafood Ceviche served with corn tortilla chips; Mexican Street Corn; Sizzling Fajitas with steak, shrimp, chicken or vegetables; and the all-new Grilled Mahi & Shrimp Los Cabos.

"One taste of the Roasted Poblano Creamed Corn with the mahi and shrimp and you will be convinced," Moya says. "Our signature Fried Ice Cream and Churro Waffle Sundae are the perfect sweet treat and end to any Mexican meal."

Moya, who describes the Cabo Flats atmosphere as casual and comfortable while exceeding customer expectations, says the company lives by the motto, "Come to eat, stay and party." They maintain this mantra with fresh handmade beverages at their bar.

"Our bar only uses fresh squeezed lemons, limes and oranges to create our margaritas," Moya says. "We only utilize fresh fruit to muddle in our specialty cocktails. All of our bottomless mimosas on the weekends for brunch use fresh squeezed orange juice."

Bar drinks include everything from classic margaritas to skinny margaritas to a less traditional Frozen Black Diamond Margarita with a black salted rim. Patrons can also choose from a selection of martinis, spiked lemonade, mojito, sangria and a selection of cervezas. Drinks, combined with authentic food, are what keep Cabo Flats an exciting experience.

"Our restaurants feature vibrant colors, energetic music, engaging staff and an overall fun experience," Moya says. "It's like enjoying a temporary vacation to a Mexican Cantina called Cabo Flats where your worries get washed away by tequila."
