BURGERFI Proves You Can Get a Better Burger, Fast!

Burgers are among the most popular food in the US, and Americans spend $2 billion dollars on burgers each week. At BURGERFI, short for BURGERFICATION, the goal is to make these burgers healthy and their production sustainable. They're also, incidentally, some of the best-tasting burgers around. These burgers are not fast food but gourmet meals.

Steve Lieber, Global Brand Ambassador for BURGERFI, says that this is because their burgers are natural: "Our Never Ever protocol means our cattle are never ever given steroids, antibiotics or growth hormone by feed or by injection. The beef is simply delicious, nutritious and easy to digest, not greasy! The concept was started by chefs who noticed the need for a natural burger and wanted to create a modern urban burger joint where families and people who care about what they eat would want to gather."

The emphasis on healthy hormone-free foods and humane farming methods is tied to the overall concern with sustainability, says Lieber: "We have a natural approach to food sourcing, restaurant design and business practices. We use up cycled building materials. We have chairs made from 111 plastic Coke bottles. We have picnic tables made from up cycled water and milk jugs. We recycle cooking oil, cardboard, plastic and glass bottles."

Fresh, wholesome and natural food is also delicious, as visitors to BURGERFI discover. Paired with gigantic onion rings, and the best and freshest tomatoes, lettuce, jalapeños, mushrooms from local farms, the burgers are all but addictive. The key lime pie dessert is a lifeline for many and the Concretes are worth a trip in their own right. Each of the 82 locations scattered across four countries features selected local craft beers. In Florida, it's Florida Swamp Ape and Monk in the Trunk; in Georgia, Sweetwater 420 and New York City locations serve Brooklyn Lager.

The two most popular menu items currently are the BURGERFI cheeseburger and the VEGEFI quinoa burger. The VEGEFI quinoa burger with quinoa, lentils, mushrooms, onions, carrots, zucchini, Fontina cheese and Parmesan cheese is popular with health conscious individuals. Also popular is the Cry and Fry, hand cut fries and beer battered onion rings with a side of Fi secret sauce. Lieber recommends Sam Adams Lager or Sam Adams seasonal Oktoberfest as accompaniment to the BURGERFI cheeseburger.

A social conscience sets BURGERFI apart from other burger joints in the area. The beef comes from humanely raised cattle that are allowed to roam free and are fed grass. The absence of antibiotics and hormones in the feed is better for the environment, reducing the contamination of the water supply.

When it comes to humans, too, there is a long list of charities supported by BURGERFI, which includes: the American Red Cross, American Cancer Association, ChangeMatters.org, Autism Speaks, Children's Miracle Network, Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Feeding South Florida, Big Heart Brigade, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of NE Ohio, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
