Be Part of the Winning Team at Lakeland's Winner's Circle Sports Bar

By Courtney Clark

Lakeland is home to Winner's Circle Sports Bar and Grill, a restaurant and bar that is known as much for its delicious fare as it is for its atmosphere and activities. A family-owned and operated establishment, this is one sports bar where everyone wins.

Winner's Circle was born in 2002. Since then, it has aimed to provide, as the website declares, "a friendly atmosphere with the best drink prices and menu around." The most popular menu item is the Award-Winning Wings. Each year, Lakeland hosts the King of the Wing competition, and Winner's Circle is the only competitor to have won three years in a row. Perfect for even picky eaters, the wings can be ordered breaded, naked, with a dry rub, or boneless- and the options don't stop there. Guests can choose from more than fifty sauce flavors, and the wings can be perfectly mild or extra spicy for brave eaters.

Winner's Circle offers Happy Hour every day and all day on Sundays at both their South & North Lakeland locations. Sports fans and non-sports fans alike will surely enjoy the extra-affordable pitchers of beer and cocktails. Winner's Circle is very well known for catering to sports fans, especially when local teams are playing. Owner, Bill Alcock encourages friendly rivalries and even brings out an outdoor 12-foot screen, projector, and additional seating for big games.

If Lakeland diners prefer not to be involved with sports, Winner's Circle still has events and activities to keep local interest. For example, on Mexican Mondays guests can enjoy cheap tacos, shots, and margaritas, Tuesday night poker, Wed & Thursday night Trivia and Friday nights are set for comedy and karaoke, as well.

The sports bar wouldn't be complete without its annual bikini contests. Winner's is partnered with the local TBAproductions, an events and marketing organization. The duo hosts five to seven pageant-style contests each year, with Cinco de Mayo and St. Patrick's Day the most popular holidays thus far for the contests.

Winner's doesn't stop there. Alcock explains that some special events include "bus trips to the Rays games, Lightning games, Dog Track, or even on a fishing charter." The restaurant enjoys promoting community and family togetherness, from its affordable menu to its family-friendly options. Parents can bring children to trivia nights or bingo contests and the kids are sure to love the special menu just for them. When the adults need a night out, they are encouraged to take advantage of Happy Hour, weekly comedy nights featuring local and touring comedians, and live music events at either of the two locations. Regardless of what patrons are looking for, they are welcome to join the fun at Winner's Circle.
