Now available in Lakeland, FL, the back-to-basics gourmet burgers at Square 1 Burgers are transforming this staple of fast food. As Vice President Bill Milner puts it, "fresh ingredients, top-quality proteins, and a little awesome for everyone- just like the good ol' days in Oklahoma." Milner views the idea of burgers as gourmet dining as a return to origins. With fresh, wholesome ingredients, a full service dining experience including a full bar, a "swanky environment" and even a doggie menu served on the patio, there's something for everyone.
The healthy burgers are built from ground up, literally. Milner explains that "Our proteins come from the wide-open pastures of the west, and farms that raise livestock humanely, without hormones or antibiotics. We hand press every patty and grill each burger to order. Our 100% Angus Beef was raised on a natural grass and grain diet. Our Buffalo comes from a ranch in northeast Wyoming that practices Holistic Management of the environment. And we have a Very Vegan Veggie Burger made in house that took over two years to get just right. The reign of the unhealthy, fast food burger is over!"
The recipes are Oklahoma-inspired recipes, and the atmosphere is fun and family-friendly. Square1 now has ten locations in Florida. Owners and joint CEOs Bill Shumate and Joanie Corneil developed SQ1 in partnership with Tampa businessman Ray Leich. The inspiration was a restaurant owned by Shumate in Oklahoma back in the 1960s.
The menu is packed with popular favorites, starting with the Double-Dipped Onion Rings which Milner says have developed a cult following. On Wednesdays they're only $4. The starters include some unlikely fries: Fried Dill Pickle Chips, Woo Hoo Fries® and Fried Mac 'N' Cheese with Bacon. With 25 different types of burgers, guests are bound to keep coming back for more. Milner says that the favorites are the classic All-American and the Buffalo Bob served with onion rings and spicy beer cheese sauce.
The Kobe Decadent Daddy is a kobe burger that lives up to its name with with brie, sun-dried tomato mayo and caramelized onions. There's also a Vegan Burger and "Beyond the Bun" choices like Kobe meatloaf and Country-Fried Steak. Milner adds: "Oh, and our milkshakes are top notch. Don't tell the kids, but some of our X-Rated "Adult" Shakes pack a delicious kick!" For the grown-ups there are speciality cocktails and craft beers. For diners who have room left over for dessert, there are zeppolis, cheesecake, key lime pie and double chocolate sundaes to round off a Square1 meal.
Square1 is always willing to host private parties and plans some fun ones of its own. For the upcoming celebration of Cinco de Mayo, there will be a series of Tequila Pairing Dinners, in partnership with Southern Wine & Spirits. And not to forget your furry friends, there's Jingo, a menu specially created for dogs and named after Owner and CEO Joanie Corneil's dog. With great food and and a welcoming atmosphere, there will always be a reason to go back to Square1.
