A Day At The Beach With Maria Scott Photography

By S. Mathur

Treasure Island. Indian Rocks. Honeymoon Island. With the pristine beaches of Florida as a backdrop, family portraits take on a special meaning.

"With portraits, you capture so many things; love between two people or family members, baby's first steps, children's laughter, the look on her face when your client proposes during a photo shoot, etc.," photographer Maria Scott said. "I'm honored to be able to document so many great moments in my client's lives. Nothing makes me happier than getting that perfect shot."

The Clearwater-based photographer specializes in portraits of families, couples, children and high school seniors. Scott adds a unique ingredient to the pictures, and that is her own sense of fun. It produces unique images that clients will treasure for a long time.

"Because I love what I do, I have fun at every session, and I want my clients to have fun too," she said. "Laughter is contagious, so I make jokes, make up silly games to play to get them laughing and just be myself."

Scott has loved photography for as long as she can remember. On family holidays she was always the one taking pictures, often with her parents' expensive cameras.

"There is something about freezing a moment in time, whether is a candid shot or a posed one and that split second is captured forever and can make beautiful, lasting memories that instantly take you back in time to that very moment," she said.

She began taking formal classes in photography seven years ago and opened her own studio. And then three years ago, she discovered her true passion.

"I moved to FL where I quickly became obsessed with beach photography, so that is where I shoot 99 percent of the time," she said. "It's the best job in the world. I'm so blessed to be able to live my dream, make lasting memories for people and do what I love."

Scott's portfolio captures family images in stunning settings, in colors of sunset, sea foam and aqua. But it's not all just fun and games and beautiful locations. Since most clients are on vacation, Scott makes the whole process of organizing the shoot and getting the pictures as hassle free as possible. Pictures are offered in various formats, including albums, mounted prints, metal prints and digital images. Scott can help clients to create custom designed wall galleries with pictures from their photo shoots.

The busy session for Scott is from May through September, and bookings should be made two to three months ahead.
